good jazz shows in New York City July 3-7?

Submitted by John Kiran Fernandes:

Hi, I'm visiting New York City at the beginning of July and was wondering if anyone knows about any good free jazz shows happening in the area at that time? Any suggestions of good places to look for listings? Thanks!

Marc E. Mention In The New Yorker

Saw in the New Yorker this week: "The avant free-jass drummers Marc Edwards and Weasel Walter team up in their group with an energetic percussive force" for a gig at the Knitting Factory.

most excellent....

Where is Cecil Taylor performing next?

I saw Cecil perform once in Philadelphia, two years ago, and I'm eager to see him again. Does anyone know of a website or mailing service that will keep me up to date about his shows? He once had a website, but sadly it's gone. Thanks!
Best,
Heath

RESISTANCE BLUE DUO: Need Milwaukee Date

Greetings!

The Resistance Blue Duo is going on the road in August.

We are looking for a venue in the Milwaukee area on August 23 or 24.

We are Ben Karetnick, percussion, and Jeremy "Phloyd" Starpoli, trombone.

Be in touch if you have or know of a place to play, including punk shows, clubs, coffee houses, etc.
We don't discriminate ;)

Coming Through the US and Canada

Bruce Percy, guitarist and improviser extraordinaire, from Brisbane, Australia, will be travelling through the US and Canada in June. He will be in New York from the 12th to the 21st of June, and if any of the fine citizens of the US and Canada who post here could come forward with any suggestions/opportunities for performances I'm sure Bruce would very much appreciate it.

He can be contacted at bruce.percy@aanet.com.au

My first NYC show is going to be this Friday at the Brecht Forum. Please come see me and wish me luck.

I'll be playing at the Brecht Forum on Friday November 23, 2007. This will be my first show in NYC. Please come and see the show if you're in NYC on Friday. We'll start at 8 PM and there are other great players performing before and after us. We'll be playing high energy free jazz and the show will be a lot of fun and the music will be a nice way to help everyone heal from the prior day's festivities.

The players in the group are:
Matt Lavelle (www.myspace.com/mattlavelle) bass clarinet and trumpet
Robert W. Getz (www.myspace.com/robertwgetz) piano
Francious Grillot bass
